iPad Pro Outsold Microsoft Surface Last Quarter

Apple’s iPad Pro  successfully outsold its rival, Microsoft Surface device in Q4, according to IDC. In their press release yesterday, IDC revealed their analysis about declining worldwide shipment of the slate tablets and the increased sales of Detachable Tablets. In outline, they found the fact that the sales number of slate tablets decreases every year up to 13.7%. However, they found the detachable tablet like iPad Pro and surface increased up to 100% than in the same quarter of 2014.

“One of the biggest reasons why detachables are growing so fast is because end users are seeing those devices as PC replacements,” said Jean Philippe Bouchard, Research Director, Tablets at IDC.

Apple Places Limited Orders for New iPad Pro. What Does It Mean?

More than 2 million units of iPad Pro, which is categorized as the detachable tablet, has been sold last year, while Microsoft sold 1.6 million units of Microsoft Surface, mostly the Surface Pro 4. When it comes to the price, iPad Pro is more expensive than Surface Pro 4.

iPad Pro is sold for USD 799, and you need to spend extra money, about USD 250 to buy its accessories, such as Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. Microsoft sells their Surface Pro 4 for USD 899, along with the Surface Pen and keyboard. However, IDC concludes that the price is not always the most important thing for users, it is the performance.
