iOS 8.3 Removes Spam Messages for Good

To get rid of the unwanted messages you receive from different companies for advertising purposes, the new iOS 8.3 beta comes with a very original solution.

In 2015, no matter what you buy or whatever form you are completing, it is inevitable not to leave your phone number. From this stage to being assaulted by hundreds of promotional SMS is a very short way. Most often, unwanted messages come from the same numbers, but even in such circumstances is very difficult to keep track.

The solution to this problem comes from Apple and is very well captured in the image below.

The new feature introduced in the latest version of iOS 8.3 beta, which was released a few days ago, lets you mark messages as spam. This function, inspired from emails, will only be present in the context menu of the SMS if the sender’s phone numbers is not on your phone book. Once the message has been defined/reported as junk, you will never be bothered again.

In theory, Apple has always offered a system to report the numbers that are assaulting you with promotions. But that was considerably more laborious and involved taking a screenshot with the phone number and the spam message and sending it to Apple Support by email.

Given that the organizations and the individuals dealing with spamming are very creative and have several phone numbers available, the new Apple solution is much faster and we will all have access to it when iOS 8.3 will become public.

There’s no official release date for the new iOS, but rumors are saying it will be available on April 24th, the same day we can purchase the brand new Apple Watch.
